Improving ERP and enhancing E-commerce Solutions: Scandinavian Explorer's Strategic Shift to TRIMIT

Every year, thousands of tourists travel to Norway for magnificent experiences with the breathtaking landscapes. But a lot of them arrive unprepared for the unpredictable weather conditions and colder temperatures. Fortunately, Scandinavian Explorer has them covered, selling quality clothing tailored to the everchanging weather along with small characteristic troll figures in souvenir shops across the country. Meeting the needs of cold-sensitive tourists for almost 20 years, Scandinavian Explorer's growth and the increasing demand for their products began to highlight significant limitations within their existing ERP system, which led to a reevaluation of their IT infrastructure.

The existing ERP system, which combined ERP and online store functionalities for Norwegian customers only, was no longer agile enough to support the expanding operations in the small family-owned business of only six people working in the administration:

“We needed a system that could support our business processes, provide us with better real-time insights, and improve our ability to adapt to rapidly changing market demands. A new ERP system would also help improve our inventory management, order handling, and customer service. Additionally, we are heavily investing in e-commerce in the future, and therefore, we need an ERP system that fully supports this,” CEO of Scandinavian Explorer, Michael El Younoussi Karlsen, explains.

The Need for an Advanced and cloud-based ERP System

Therefore, it was time to replace the existing IT system. Beside the need to enable international e-commerce, the business saw several beneficial advantages in terms of switching to another ERP:

A new ERP system is also crucial in order for us to optimize our B2B sales. Previously, we have received orders via email, phone, texts, and everything in between, and then someone had to manually enter it. The idea of switching system is that we want to have a much better B2B portal where customers can place orders themselves, which is easier for them and saves us a lot of time. TRIMIT has the perfect user-friendly solution for this with their Fashion Solution tailored to the industry needs,

Furthermore, the company’s current ERP system is server-based, which is very limiting in terms of flexibility within business operations:

“Moving to a cloud-based solution is crucial, along with implementing Power BI for more efficient reporting and real-time business insights. Today, a large part of our workday is spent on finding the right numbers and the right reports. We want to have a system where we have a dashboard that shows us how business is running and that we can make data based decisions on,” the CEO expresses.

Founded in 2014, Elements Production has rapidly grown to become one of Norway’s leading providers of sportswear and uniforms. In 2022 the company reached one billion NOK in revenue —a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation.

Extensive Research for the Perfect Solution

In addition to the focal point of having a cloud-based
solution, a new ERP system would support better inventory management, order handling, and customer service. But Michael and the rest of the family business did not want to make a wrong decision. Therefore the search for just the right system for them started more than two years ago:
The decision to choose Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and TRIMIT came after an extensive and meticulous evaluation of several ERP solutions. TRIMIT stood out by taking the time to understand us, our work processes, and how we can improve offering a complete and flexible solution specifically designed for our industry. It could seamlessly integrate with our other new systems,

Furthermore, TRIMIT's reputation and experience with similar companies also played a role in the decision-making:

"TRIMIT has also helped several companies similar to ours, which gave us confidence in choosing TRIMIT as a long-term partner that can support us in our growth and digitalization journey."

Future fit IT solution

With TRIMIT's implementation, Scandinavian Explorer
are anticipating substantial improvements in their daily operations:

"We expect significant improvements in efficiency and accuracy in our daily operations. The new system will provide us with better control over the supply chain, reduce manual processes, and enhance our decision-making with access to real-time data," the CEO shares.
Looking ahead, the new ERP system is poised to support Scandinavian Explorer's ambitious growth plans:

In the long term, TRIMIT will help us scale our business more effectively, explore new markets, and quickly adapt to market changes. We look forward to a more integrated and automated future with TRIMIT, which will give us a competitive advantage and support our vision of delivering great products and services to our customers.
